Old S.E.B Site to be redeveloped? Your comments needed.

Old SEB Site, Netherhampton Rd

Please click on the link above to see the proposals.

Developers have contacted me about the possible development of the former S.E.B site on Netherhampton Rd. This is the land on both sides to the approach road to Booker Cash & Carry, which falls in the Fovant & Chalke Valley ward, but named Harnham Business Park!

I have passed this onto the councillor there, but any proposal will impact Harnham, and in particular, Netherhampton Rd.

The proposal consists of:

26 affordable houses;

39 open market mixed houses;

60 bed Hotel

and a Pub.

Please send your comments to the land owners, who are asking for comment. Their details are on the attached flyer.

This is very early stage yet. The land here is actually allocated for employment, so I would assume there are major planning issues for the developer to try and overcome.

Sainsbury’s Application to be heard by the Strategic Planning Committee – In Trowbridge?

The controversial Sainsbury planning application on Southampton Rd, is to go before the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), not the Southern Area Planning Committee (SAPC).

I and a few other (Salisbury) Wiltshire councillors have an issue with this decision and here’s why:

  • The SAPC meets in Salisbury at 6pm on a Thursday and has ‘local’ Salisbury elected councillors on it, including me.
  • SPC usually meets in Trowbridge,  at either 10am or 2pm on a Wednesday.

We want as many Salisbury residents as possible attending this meeting, whenever it is, to be held in Salisbury at 6pm, not 34 miles away in Trowbridge at 10am or 2pm, when many residents will be at work and won’t travel this far to attend a meeting. And to have Salisbury councillors on it, not someone from the far north of the county, who has no idea of local issues.

This meeting must be heard by the Southern Area Planning Committee.

Your thoughts would be very helpful – please get in touch.

Odstock Rd – Traffic Report for Pedestrian Crossing

Please click on the link below to see the Traffic Report carried out by Wiltshire Council on Odstock Rd.

The report was carried out in November 2103 to see how many people cross the road and where and to see if it met the criteria for a controlled crossing, such as a Zebra or Pelican Crossing. Please read the report.

Bus Station interchange to be included in Maltings re-development

At the Area Board meeting on Thursday, click to see agenda, Stanhope gave an update on the Maltings re-development.

They have stated that a Bus Station interchange WILL now be included within the new development. This is great news for Salisbury, but this decision must now surely make the City council think again about wasting more public money (£10,000 so far allocated) on consultancy fees, about it taking over the old Bus Station site and running it as a Bus Station. Any final decision, could cost us £100,000’s in tax payer’s money.

Click here to see the Minutes of the City council meeting on 20th January, which approved further spending on this now ‘pet scheme’. For info, all Conservative councillors voted for this, along with one Independent and one green councillor.

A valid point has been made, listing it as an ‘asset of community value’, but to waste more public money is now becoming more than a joke.
